Awesome, then some…
We’re gonna create the best multi-wheeled venue in the West! It’ll be suitable for all ages and abilities, skate boards, inline aggressive and BMX.br /> Key stuff we want:
- Low Noise level – to minimise any potential for complaint
- Graded Obstacles - Suitable for all ages
- Sensitive Floodlighting – to allow unobtrusive year round usage
- ROSPA approved – the recognised UK safety association
- Competition Standard – to attract national events
- Aesthetically pleasing design – a facility for all to be proud of
NIMBY?
Before you go “Not In My Back Yard” think about this. Bored young people = trouble. The Skate and BMX Park will solve the problem by providing somewhere cool for them to hang out and do their thing.
The younger generation are also getting less exercise – not good for them, or for our overstretched health service. The Skate Park will provide a safe outlet for their energy – somewhere they can improve their fitness, see daylight, breathe fresh air and get away from the computer screen!
Like it or not, there’s a gap between young people and the rest of us. Working together to build and maintain this facility has already started to break down these barriers - we look forward to working together over the coming months to see our plans fulfilled.
We have some great young talent scraping up and down our kerbstones and getting air off random piles of earth. The nearest proper Skate Park is in Hengrove, Bristol – not somewhere young people can easily get to without parental assistance. Wouldn’t it be great to channel all that enthusiasm and build a quality recreational facility? It would demonstrate that the people of Cheddar really care about their young people.
